Week 1
What is Animation? Let’s Move!
Introductions and showcase how animation is the illusion of movement.
Students will create a 2 frame flip animation.

Week 2
Zoetropes, the first animations.
Talk about zoetropes and the concepts behind playing one image after another.
Students will create their own zoetropes of a bouncing ball.
Week 3
Flip Books
Teaching straight on animation again with one image after the other.
Students create a 20-page flip book based on a shape or character.

Week 4
Shape Change. Watch it transform.
Teaching the concept of keyframes and in-betweens in animation.
Students animate a shape changing into another shape.
Week 5
Slow Vs Fast (Timing and Spacing)
Teaching concepts of ease in and out by space between drawings.
Students will create 2 animations of a character moving fast and slow, then slow to fast.

Week 6
Cels. Let's move arms and heads.
Explain how characters are created in tradition animation using cels.
Student create a character moving only one part of the body by only redrawing that body part.
Week 7
Rigs and Puppets
Talk about character rigs in animation and how they are used.
Student will create they're own pose-able puppet to be used in stop motion
Week 8
Puppet Show. Stop motion animation.
Teach the process behind stop motion animation.
In groups student create a short stop motion using their puppets from Week 7.
Week 9
Flip Swap!
Showcase the collaborative nature required for animation.
Students will create the first half of a flip book then swap with another student to complete their animation
Week 10
